FK Architecture Donates 200 Trees to Support Reforestation in Florida and Abroad

Sustainability is at the core of our practice, and this extends beyond our architectural impact. At FK Architecture, we seek to minimize the negative environmental impact of buildings through improved efficiency and moderation in the use of materials, energy, development space, and the ecosystem at large. In honor of Earth Month, in April, we partnered with One Tree Planted and donated 200 trees to promote reforestation and help minimize the global carbon footprint.

Uplifting the local community has been a priority for our firm since its inception. That’s why 100 of the trees will be planted in our home state of Florida. The additional 100 trees were donated to the tropical rainforests in Brazil. FK is committed to expanding our global reach to serve various communities across the globe.

“The need for reforestation is a global issue. One Tree Planted is a wonderful organization with a mission that strongly aligns with our firm’s core values. We are proud to promote sustainability worldwide and in our backyard,” said Shelbee Bullock, the firms Marketing and Communications Coordinator.

One of Brazil’s defining features is its rich ecological diversity, specifically its tropical rainforests. The Amazon Rainforest is the largest intact forest area in the world. However, it has lost about 13% of its area, and deforestation is one of the leading causes. The total area lost is over five times the size of Florida. By planting trees in Brazil, its wildlife habitats are supported and protected. This restores forests, improves the connectivity of fragmented forests, and provides jobs for the local farming community. One Tree Planted helps us regrow the lost rainforest in Brazil and grow our state park system domestically. Florida is home to 37 state forests covering over 1,070,000 acres. We believe our partnership with One Tree Planted will help us achieve our ecological goals - one tree at a time.
