Celebrating Women in Design: Jesy Acosta Featured in Building Enclosure Magazine

As Women’s History Month concludes, we’re proud to highlight one of FK Architecture’s own, Interior Designer Jesy Acosta, who was recently featured in Building Enclosure Magazine’s “Celebrating Women in the AEC Industry” series.

With nearly three decades of experience in interior design, Jesy brings a perspective shaped by both creative vision and technical rigor—an approach that continues to elevate the hospitality and commercial environments she helps shape. In her feature, she reflects on the importance of diversity and inclusion in the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry—not just as a matter of equity, but as a driving force behind better, more human-centered design.

Jesy emphasizes that when teams bring varied lived experiences and perspectives to the table, the resulting work is more thoughtful, more responsive, and ultimately more inclusive of the people who use these spaces every day. Her insights reinforce a core belief we share at FK: great design happens when different voices are heard and integrated into the process.

She also speaks to the balance between creative ambition and technical precision—a balance that is especially critical in complex hospitality environments, where branding, guest experience, and operational performance must work seamlessly together. For Jesy, constraints are not limitations, but opportunities—frameworks that push design thinking toward stronger, more intentional solutions.

In her feature, she also reflects on the evolving landscape of hospitality design, including luxury hotel renovations and brand-driven environments, where storytelling and spatial experience are deeply interconnected. Her work demonstrates how interior design can become a powerful extension of brand identity while still meeting the functional demands of high-performance spaces.

Perhaps most importantly, Jesy encourages the next generation of women in AEC to pursue their careers with confidence, persistence, and pride in their unique perspectives. She underscores that those perspectives are not only valuable—they are essential to shaping the built environment in ways that truly serve everyone.

We are grateful to Jesy for her leadership, insight, and continued dedication to advancing both the craft and culture of design.
